TBI Study Says Juveniles Victims Of Violence

CREATED Jun 4, 2014

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A newly released Tennessee Bureau of Investigation study on domestic violence shows that juveniles accounted for approximately 10 percent of all victims.

The study looked at domestic violence across the state from 2011 to 2013. It found that simple assault was the most frequently reported offense, accounting for nearly 69 percent of all offenses. Females were almost three times more likely to be the victims, rather than males.

The study found that boyfriend-girlfriend relationships were the most frequently reported incidents, accounting for more than 43 percent of all domestic violence in the three-year period. Victims were six times more likely to be abused by a spouse than an ex-spouse.

The study found the violence resulted in 288 homicides.
