NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Walls Grocery Store on Kedron Road is still open for business despite being robbed early Tuesday morning. The store's surveillance video captured the thief's every move. Around 3 a.m., a rock was used to break a front window.

“This is the rock that was found probably (I'm going to say) 15 (to) 20 feet into the store,” Maury County Deputy Sgt. Johnny Luttrell said as he hoisted the five pound rock.

The thief, dressed in all black with gloves, used a newspaper to clear away the shards of glass before squeezing his way in and landing near the register. The first time he made out with Newport cigarettes and some lottery tickets. Almost thirty minutes later he was back, squeezing into that same window, this time to steal the safe.

“I hate to say it's probably drug money, that's probably what it is,” Sgt. Luttrell added.

But both times he wasn't alone. Detectives are also looking for the driver of a two tone 2000 to 2003 Ford Explorer, possibly an Eddie Bauer edition believed to be the getaway car.

“And he actually circles that house once before he comes back and lets the guy out,” Sgt. Luttrell said about the surveillance video. “And just kind of sits off to the side and waits on him.”

Another video shows an SUV driving along Port Royal Road. Deputies say the driver may not have realized what was happening, but could have information that’s helpful.

Investigators need the public’s help to find clues that could lead to an arrest and help put the hardworking owners of the local grocery at ease.

“They've been hit numerous times,” Sgt. Luttrell said. “They've been robbed in daylight. They've been through a lot.”
