NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - An east Tennessee police chief is facing charges of theft and misconduct.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said that a Rhea County grand jury has charged Graysville Police Chief Jason Erik Redden with seven counts of official misconduct, two counts of theft over $1,000 and one count of theft under $500.

Redden was booked into the Rhea County Jail on Monday. Online jail records did not indicate if he had retained a lawyer.

The TBI said investigators discovered problems with three of the police department's seized vehicles. The TBI also said agents discovered more than $4,000 in missing money either seized in busts or paid to the department for towing and storage. Officials said they have video that shows Redden taking tools from a truck held as evidence.
