Vigil Held For Missing 37-Year-Old Woman

CREATED Jun 3, 2014
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A vigil will be held Tuesday night for a woman who has been missing for more than a week and a half.

Family and friends of Nichole “Nikki” Burgess will gather in her hometown of Crossville. The vigil begins at 8 p.m. at the Cumberland County High School football field.

The 37-year-old pinup model has not been heard from since Friday, May 23, when she reportedly texted her best friend. Officials with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said they suspect foul play in her disappearance.

Police found her car with her purse inside at her duplex on Oak Vale Drive in Hermitage, and her two dogs were still inside the home after her friend reported her missing on Sunday, May 25.

Family and friends told police she would have boarded the dogs if she intended on being away for an extended period.

A neighbor who lives directly across the street told police he saw a strange gray car back up into the driveway the night she went missing.

Burgess has a 10-year-old son. Police said the child was with her on Thursday, but not Friday.

The boy has been with his father, who lives in Knoxville. Investigators said he has custodial rights and picked up the child at school. He told police he didn't see Burgess.

Friends have set up a Facebook community called Find Nikki Burgess.

Burgess graduated from Cumberland County High School in 1996. Attendees for the vigil were asked to bring candles and any donations for the family.

Anyone who has seen or had contact with Burgess from May 23 and afterward should call Nashville Emergency Communications Center at (615) 862-8600 or Nashville Crime Stoppers at (615) 74-CRIME.
