Springfield Police Investigate Shooting
SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. – Police in Springfield are investigating a Sunday night shooting that injured a man.
Springfield Police said the victim, Marlon Torres, drove himself to Northcrest Medical Center’s emergency room after the shooting.
Torres told officers that he and a friend were in a car the area of E. 21st Avenue and Blair Street sometime around 10 p.m. Sunday when they were approached by a man for an apparent marijuana deal.
The victim told officers he felt something was not right, and tried to drive away. The man then fired one shot at the car, which struck Torres in his right side. His passenger was not hurt.
Torres drove himself to Northcrest, and he was later taken by ambulance to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Police said he was released from the hospital around 3:40 a.m. Monday.
Specific details about the alleged shooter were not immediately known.
