Motorcyclist Critically Injured On I-24E
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was critically injured after crashing his motorcycle on Interstate 24 east on Sunday night.
The crash happened just before 9:30 p.m. near mile marker 42, near Old Hickory Boulevard.
Officials with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said the motorcycle went off the left side of the roadway, struck a guardrail, and then came to a rest in a grassy median.
The rider either fell or was thrown from the motorcycle after striking the guardrail, according to police. A helmet was found in a ditch on the right side of the interstate.
The 24-year-old man was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. His name was not immediately released.
Police said there was no evidence of alcohol at the scene, but believed the preliminary contributing factor was failure to maintain lane of travel.
