CREATED May 30, 2014

MADISON, Tenn. – Police have asked the public’s help in identifying a woman who they said tried to rob a clerk in the garden center of Home Depot.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said the incident happened Thursday afternoon, at the store located on North Gallatin Pike in Madison.

The suspect allegedly approached the clerk, wanting to pay for an item with a $5 bill. Police said she then asked if she could get change for a $100 bill, in additional to the change from her purchase.

When the clerk said yes, the suspect allegedly revealed a knife in her pocket and demanded money from the cash drawer.

According to investigators, the clerk refused, slammed the drawer and threw a $1 bill back at her before calling for help.

The suspect walked out of the store and got into a silver Kia Optima.

Anyone recognizing the woman or her car has been asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 74-CRIME.
