2 Charged After Fight Leads To Stabbing In Downtown Nashville

CREATED May 30, 2014
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two people who police said stabbed each other during a fight in downtown Nashville have been charged with aggravated assault.

Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said 31-year-old Joseph Kirk and 20-year-old Irish Adam had been drinking and got into an argument in a parking lot behind a business on Broadway around 9:40 p.m. Both allegedly pulled out knives and stabbed each other.

The pair were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where they were treated and released.

Police found a knife in Kirk's jacket on the scene, and the other knife was found in Adam's clothing.

Police said both Kirk and Adam are transients who they believe travel from place to place by jumping onboard freight trains.

Kirk, who is from Illinois, was also charged with public intoxication. His bond was set at $31,000. Adam, who is from Pennsylvania, had her bond set at $25,000.
