19-Year-Old Man Arrested In 2013 Murder

CREATED May 28, 2014
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A 19-year-old man wanted in connection with a December 2013 murder in the Edgehill community was taken into custody Tuesday night.

Officials with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department arrested Deion L. Woodruff at a residence on 14th Avenue North after receiving information that he was staying there. As the resident allowed officers inside, they heard a door close and lock. Woodruff eventually surrendered without incident.

Woodruff was charged with criminal homicide in connection with the shooting death of 28-year-old Isaac Morris on December 17, 2013.

Police said Morris let a man, believed to be Woodruff, inside his apartment on 12th Avenue South for an electronic equipment sale. Gunshots were heard a short time later, and the gunman was seen carrying a black bag believed to have been taken from Morris' room.

Morris was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

Detectives found the stolen items inside Woodruff's house shortly after the shooting, and police issued a warrant for his arrest.

Woodruff's bond was set at $1.022-million.
