CREATED May 27, 2014

MT. JULIET, Tenn. – Electricity was knocked out for a section of Mt. Juliet after a tractor trailer snagged "multiple" power lines and pulled down two poles.

The incident happened Tuesday around 8:30 p.m. off Mt. Juliet Road between Old Lebanon Dirt Road and Old Mt. Juliet Road South. Officials said the truck took down poles in two areas. Wires were on the ground.

Power was out at the Valley Center shopping area. The area was closed as crews worked at the scene due to the electrical hazard.

Middle Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation reported over 1,700 customers without power in the area.

Officials advised drivers to treat blacked-out intersections as four-way stop signs.

Crews restored electricity for most customers by about 9:45 p.m.
