KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities said the suspect in a Florida triple homicide was captured in Knoxville after he called 911 saying he wanted to die at the hands of law enforcement.

Knox County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Eddie Biggs told media that David Eugene Smith identified himself as the man wanted in connection with the shooting deaths of two women and a man near Lakeland, Florida, over the weekend.

He was captured in his motel room in Knoxville, suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His condition was not immediately available.

Polk County, Florida, sheriff's spokeswoman Donna Wood said one of the victims was Smith's sister, 31-year-old Danyala Smith. The other two victims were 25-year-old Nikosi Williams and 28-year-old Miranda Mims. Authorities still are investigating the relationship between the three victims.
