Suspect Sought After Fatal North Nashville Shooting
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Police have been searching for a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in North Nashville.
Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said 36-year-old Michael Weaver, Jr. died Saturday night, after being shot near 14th Avenue North and Cockrill Street.
Police said the victim and a friend drove to the area to make a drug transaction. The suspect reportedly got into the backseat of the vehicle, pulled out a gun and demanded money from Weaver, who was sitting in the passenger's seat.
Weaver apparently refused and was shot. The suspect got out of the car and fled the scene, possibly in a red, Dodge Neon.
The friend drove Weaver to Skyline Medical Center where he later died as a result of his injuries.
The suspect was described as a black male, five-feet-nine-inches tall with short hair. He also wore round glasses.
