Grand Jury To Hear Case Against Woman Accused In I-24 Deadly Hit-And-Run

CREATED May 23, 2014
RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – A grand jury will hear the case against the Murfreesboro woman accused of a hit-and-run crash that killed a 13-year-old boy who was changing a tire on the side of Interstate 24.

Tina L. Wilson, age 33, was in court in Rutherford County on Friday morning for a preliminary hearing. The judge ruled the case would go before the Grand Jury on July 21. Her bond was also set at $250,000.

Wilson has been jailed without bond since being arrested on April 10. She has been charged with vehicular homicide by intoxication, aggravated vehicular assault, leaving the scene that resulted in a death, and drug charges.

Investigators with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said Wilson hit Clifton Braunwalder, of Lascassas while he was changing a flat tire on the side of I-24 west in Smyrna. His mother Sondra Braunwalder, 47, and sister Louann, 12, were also standing by the car.

Troopers said Wilson lost control of her car, swerved over two lanes, and hit Clifton along with his mother. Sondra Braunwalder was not seriously hurt.

Wilson allegedly fled the scene, but a witness followed her into Davidson County where she was taken into custody.
