2 Loaded Guns Found In Carry-On Bag At Nashville Airport
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Two loaded firearms were found in a passenger’s carry-on bag at Nashville International Airport on Thursday morning.
The guns, a Kimber .45 and Kel-Tec .32, were discovered around 7:30 a.m. by the Transportation Security Administration at the airport’s checkpoint.
The TSA contacted airport police, but it was unclear if the passenger was charged. Passengers who bring firearms to a checkpoint can also face civil penalties from TSA.
“Passengers are responsible for the contents of bags they bring to the checkpoint,” said TSA spokesman Mark Howell in a statement. “Our advice is to look through bags thoroughly before coming to the airport to make sure there are no illegal or prohibited items.”
Thursday’s discovery makes 15 firearms found so far this year at the airport’s security checkpoints. In 2013, a total of 47 firearms were found at Nashville International.
