Rutherford Co. Authorities Say Shooting Stemmed From Physical Assault
RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – Authorities in Rutherford County are investigating a shooting that allegedly stemmed as a physical assault.
The Rutherford County Sheriff's Office said 55-year-old Timothy Fathera called to report he had shot 51-year-old Robert Waddell after Waddell came to his home on Rocky Hill Road around 7:40 p.m. Wednesday and repeatedly struck him.
Waddell left the scene in a vehicle, but a relative called for an ambulance from a home on Holly Grove Road.
Waddell, who suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, where he was treated and released.
The investigation was ongoing. Detectives will present the findings of the investigation to the 16th Judicial District Attorney General’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed.
