I-24W Off Ramp Blocked In Clarksville After Pedestrian, Power Pole Struck

CREATED May 20, 2014
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – A pedestrian has been struck on an exit ramp of Interstate 24 westbound in Clarksville. The ramp will likely remain blocked until late Tuesday evening as the crash knocked a power pole into the roadway.

Clarksville Police said a vehicle ran off the road on the exit 4 off ramp around noon, and struck the pedestrian and the power pole.

The pedestrian’s condition was unknown, but police said they did not believe the injuries to be critical. An identity was not immediately released.

The power pole and power lines were knocked into the roadway, forcing police to close the ramp until they can be removed. They believe it could be Tuesday night before the roadway is cleared.

Clarksville Police recommended that drivers should avoid the area if possible, and use exit 11, exit 8, or exit 1 if they need to get around it.

The traffic signal at the intersection will likely remain out of service until Wednesday, so Clarksville Police wanted to remind drivers that they should treat the intersection as a 4-way stop sign.
