Overturned Tractor Trailer Blocks I-24W In Montgomery County
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - An overturned tractor trailer blocked the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Montgomery County for several hours.
The truck overturned between mile marker 15 and 16 around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday. Several trucks were involved in the incident, although the details of what led to the crash were not available.
It was unclear if there were any injuries.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol diverted traffic off exit 19 to 41A as a detour. Officials with the Clarksville Police Department said the detour was causing some increased traffic congestion on Madison Street near Martin Luther King Parkway.
Westbound lanes were blocked while crews investigated the scene and worked to clear the wreckage. One lane remained closed while workers with the Tennessee Department of Transportation cleared leaked fuel from the roadway.
TDOT officials estimated the interstate would be cleared by 4 p.m.
