NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Broadcasting legend Hope Hines has been selected as a recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.
For the better part of 40 years, Hope Hines was a presence at NewsChannel 5. Every night at 6 and 10 p.m., viewers tuned in to see Hines at the sports desk.
“I had a job people would kill for,” said Hines in an interview with NewsChannel 5’s Steve Layman. “What's not to like?”
On Saturday, Hope will again take his place in the spotlight, when he's inducted into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
From "The Intimidator” to “Steady Eddie,” Hines covered it all and earned a reputation as the sports authority in Middle Tennessee.
“I've been so blessed. This is the crown jewel of my career,” said Hines.
Hines retired from NewsChannel 5 in 2011.
