CREATED May 13, 2014

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – A California man was arrested in Murfreesboro for allegedly driving drunk with his 10-year-old son in the car.

Murfreesboro Police arrested 29-year-old Bryan Ellington, of Los Angeles, early Sunday morning.

A police report said an officer saw a car run a red light at E. Northfield Boulevard at Lascassas Pike. The officer initiated a traffic stop, and spoke with Ellington. The officer said the vehicle had a smell of alcohol, and Ellington’s 10-year-old son was in the front passenger seat.

The report said Ellington was unsteady on his feet and admitted to drinking. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests, and was arrested for DUI and implied consent. He was also charged with driving on a suspended license for the eleventh time, according to the police report.

A check also revealed he was wanted on warrants in Rutherford and Wilson Counties.

DCS was notified, and the boy’s mother was called to the scene to pick him up. The report said the child was not hurt, but he was visibly upset.
