Crews Searching For 2 Cocke County Inmates

NEWPORT, Tenn. (AP) - Officials in East Tennessee are search for two inmates who escaped custody while attending a ministry program.

According to local media, Cocke County Sheriff Armando Fontes said in a statement that six inmates were performing work outside the jail Sunday as part of the ministry program when two ran off.

Deputies are searching for 20-year-old Austin Fine and 49-year-old Jimmy Grooms.

Fontes said Grooms was awaiting trial on charges of kidnapping and assault. He said Fine was jailed on charges of theft and violating probation.

Fontes said it is the first such incident with the ministry program since its inception three years ago.
