RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. – A Rutherford county family is looking to get back on their feet after a fire at their home early Saturday morning, took nearly everything they own.

Lee Ellis, his wife and their eight kids all safely escaped a fire that broke out at their home on Halls Hill Pike around 3:15 Saturday morning. Several of their pets also made it out unharmed.

Many of Ellis' neighbors dropped by his house Saturday to make sure he had the essentials to get by.

The Red Cross has stepped in to help him with a place to stay for the next couple days, but he said his biggest challenge is going to be starting over after so much loss.

“Where do you go from here?” Ellis asked. “You know, you start cleaning up, and start to rebuild, that's all you can do.”

Right now investigators say they don't know how the fire started, though it appears accidental. If you would like to donate to the Ellis family, you can contact Ellis' co-worker Sara Logan here.
