NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Preparations are under way for the 73rd running of the Iroquois Steeplechase on Saturday.
More than 20,000 people will pack Percy Warner Park Saturday to see the horses compete. The post positions were drawn Thursday with the traditional ringing of the bell.
Additionally, organizers said they have some new things on tap, including on social media.
AT&T is teaming up to incorporate Twitter and Instagram on the Jumbotron.
There will also be a new indoor option to watch the race.
“I think anybody who has driven by the course has seen the new Skybox Suites, which is a pretty neat way to watch the races. They’re air-conditioned; the view from inside the suit of the track is just phenomenal. Plus they have closed circuit TVs,” said the chairman of the race committee Dwight Hall.
For the first time, individual tickets are available with access to the tailgating area.
The tailgating area opens at 8 a.m. Saturday with opening ceremonies at 12:30 p.m. The first of seven races begins at 1 p.m.
