Police: Man Threatened Girlfriend, Kids To Make Them Steal
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A 33-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly threatening his girlfriend and her children if they didn't steal items from stores.
Metro Police arrested Michael Begley at the Walmart on Nolensville Pike near Harding Place.
Police said Begley forced his girlfriend and four children to go inside stores and steal items for him to sell on the street. His girlfriend told police he threatened to kill her if she didn't do it.
Begley was waiting outside the Walmart Thursday night while his girlfriend and 12-year-old daughter went inside the store, and police moved in.
Begley got out of the car and took off, leaving three other kids in the car.
Police were able to catch up with him and arrest him.
He's accused of forcing them to steal several other times.
Begley was charged with several counts of conspiracy theft, evading arrest, and child neglect.
