Police Say Couple Had Illegal Drugs In Child’s Diaper Bag

CREATED May 9, 2014

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A couple was arrested after police discovered drugs in their child’s diaper bag.

Jessica Hall, 29, and Kevin Smart, 28, were taken into custody at the Summerwind Apartments on Bell Road.

Police had come to the apartment complex looking for Smart as he had an outstanding warrant in Dickson County. They had learned he was living with his girlfriend, Hall, at the apartments and began surveillance.

Officers soon observed the couple arrive at the complex along with their child.

Warrants were obtained to search the couple’s car and home, but Hall refused to hand over their child’s diaper bag.

She told officers that there were drugs in the bag, and her boyfriend was selling them to support her and the baby.

Officers found marijuana, cocaine, a scale, cash, and a gun in the couple’s possession.

Hall and Smart were charged with several felony drug offenses. Both were held on $95,000 bond.

Police said Smart has felony convictions in his Davidson County arrest history.
