MONROE, Mich. (AP) - Law enforcement officials in southeastern Michigan said they have apprehended a fugitive accused of violating his parole in Tennessee.

Monroe County Sheriff's officials said Wednesday that 60-year-old Jimmy Clayton is in jail awaiting extradition. The resident of Shelbyville, Tennessee, who had served time for murder, was apprehended on Sunday.

Authorities said a deputy saw "a suspicious male carrying a duffel bag." The deputy confirmed it was Clayton and ordered him to place his hands on the patrol car but he fled.

Two off-duty officers -- one from the Michigan Department of Corrections and the other from the city of Toledo, Ohio -- helped the deputy pursue and tackle Clayton.
