71-Year-Old Man Struck, Killed By Hit-And-Run Driver In Madison

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A 71-year-old man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver in Madison late Tuesday night in Madison.

Officials with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said Allen Hoogewind and a co-worker had just gotten off an MTA bus and were crossing Gallatin Pike near Walton Lane in a crosswalk around 9:35 p.m. when a car struck Hoogewind. He died at the scene.

Hoogewind, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, and his co-worker were crossing the street to get to their car in a nearby parking lot. The co-worker was not injured.

The car, which a witness said had a green light, continued driving south on Gallatin Pike. The car was described as a dark-colored, four-door sedan and police said it may have front end damage.
