Pedestrian Seriously Injured When Struck By Car In South Nashville
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A pedestrian was critically injured after being struck by a car in south Nashville late Monday night.
Officials with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department said the 40-year-old man was struck by a Kia Optima on Old Hickory Boulevard near Nolensville Pike around 11 p.m.
The driver, who was traveling east, told police that the man suddenly appeared in the roadway and she did not see him because there was another car beside her. She said she was unable to react quickly enough to avoid the crash.
The pedestrian, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
Police said the investigation showed he was at least 200 yards from the nearest crosswalk and was intoxicated.
The driver did not show any signs of impairment at the scene. No charges were filed at present.
