NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was arrested after he allegedly led police on a foot chase after firing shots in a south Nashville neighborhood.
Officers with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department were called to Linbar Drive after residents reported a man firing shots and waving a gun in the air.
When they arrived, they directed 22-year-old Thanh Tran to put his hands in the air.
He appeared to comply momentarily, but police said he took off running with police in pursuit.
Police say during the chase Tran kept reaching in the front of his pants.
It wasn't until Tran went over a fence that he was stopped by officers who were waiting on the other side.
Police said he pulled out a gun, and officers told him to drop the weapon. He complied and laid down on his stomach.
Police said Tran has several previous drug convictions along with a conviction for domestic assault. He was also wanted on two outstanding warrants, including one for felony drug possession.
Tran was charged with evading arrest, unlawful possession of a weapon, and resisting arrest.
Police said they found several bullet casings near the home where the shots were fired. A street light had also been shot out.
