11 Baby Ducks Rescued From Murfreesboro Storm Drain
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Eleven baby ducks were rescued Saturday morning from a storm drain in Rutherford County.
Officials with the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department said the ducks were rescued from a storm drain on Southeast Broad Street near the Discovery Center.
Ten of the baby ducks were easily rescued and were reunited with their mother, who was on land. The last young duckling to be rescued was carried by employees with the Discovery Center in a canoe to meet the others on the river.
"Unfortunately, this was not the first duck rescue we've experienced at this storm drain," said Shift Commander Dale Maynard. "However, we truly appreciated the help of Sergeants Roche and Atchley of MPD, who were very instrumental in the success of this particular rescue."
Crews said the Mama Duck led them across the river once everyone was together.
