Tractor Trailer Destroyed By Fire Along I-24E
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Interstate 24 eastbound has reopened following a tractor trailer fire early Thursday morning.
The tractor trailer caught fire near mile marker 37 around 1 a.m. Drivers of cars on the interstate noticed the fire and flagged down the driver, who attempted to put out the flames.
The driver disconnected the cab from the trailer and called 911. Firefighters arrived to find the trailer fully involved. They were able to put out the blaze quickly, but the trailer was destroyed.
The truck was carrying Starbucks cargo.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
The eastbound lanes were shut down for a few hours while crews worked to clean up the scene.
