MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - Incredible police car video showed two Murfreesboro Police Officers and a good Samaritan neighbor rescuing a man from a burning car.

The driver of a red convertible sports car lost control of the vehicle, crashed on a hairpin corner and slammed into a tree, catching fire. The incident happened in early 2013.

NewsChannel 5 recently obtained an exclusive copy of the dramatic rescue video.

"The flames were 30 feet into the air," said Kyle Evans with the Murfreesboro Police Department.

Two officers, Travis Ledford and Nathan Frost, along with a neighbor James Haynes, all rushed to the scene hoping to save the driver and passenger.

The driver died on impact, but the video shows the officers braving the huge flames and heat to pull the passenger to safety.

The two officers were awarded the Medal of Valor. Haynes received a citizenship award.

The passenger survived the crash, escaping with broken bones and burns.
