One Killed In Murfreesboro House Fire

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – One person was killed Tuesday afternoon, in a house fire in Rutherford County.

Officials with the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue Department said the fire was reported just before 4 p.m. at a home located on Minor Street in Murfreesboro.

When crews arrived on the scene, they said smoke and flames were visible from the back of the house. At least one person was found inside the home.

The victim's identity has not been released. The person was later pronounced deceased at Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital.

The cause of the fire was unknown but the State Fire Marshal was on the scene investigating.

According to fire officials, there were no working smoke detectors inside the home at the time of the fire.

Another resident was displaced as a result of the blaze. The American Red Cross has stepped in to help.
