1 Killed, 3 Injured In Crash On SR 840 Near Nolensville Road
COLLEGE GROVE, Tenn. – A woman was killed and three other people were injured in a crash on State Route 840 in Williamson County on Monday afternoon.
The three-vehicle crash happened around 1:30 p.m. Monday just after the Nolensville Road interchange near College Grove.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said 63-year-old Debbie C. Atashzay, of Shelbyville, was killed in the crash. She was a passenger in a Cadillac CTS, which was driven by 26-year-old Amber M. Atashzay, also from Shelbyville. She was also injured.
Troopers said traffic was slow in the eastbound lanes when a Toyota FJ, driven by 35-year-old Richard A. Sussen of Manchester, rear-ended the Cadillac. That caused the Cadillac to strike a Ford Focus from behind. The Focus then went off the right shoulder, and landed in a ditch. The Cadillac rotated and stopped in the right lane while the FJ overturned and landed on its right side in the middle of the roadway.
Sussen, who was not wearing a seatbelt, and the driver of the Focus, 19-year-old Donald Moore III of Shelbyville, were also hurt. Their conditions were not immediately known.
Investigators were working to determine if weather contributed to the crash. They said criminal charges were pending.
The roadway was shut down for four hours while troopers investigated.
