Knox County Sheriff’s Deputy Fired After UT Party Incident
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – A sheriff’s deputy for the Knox County Sheriff’s Office has been fired after online pictures surfaced of him allegedly using excessive force while arresting a man in Knoxville.
WVLT confirmed Sunday, that 47-year-old Frank Phillips was fired after he was photographed allegedly choking a man while busting a party Saturday night, on the campus of the University of Tennessee.
The images were first released by the Daily Mail, and showed what appeared to be Phillips choking 21-year-old Jarod Dotson during an arrest.
Phillips had been an employee of the Knox County Sheriff’s Office since 1992.
Dotson was charged with public intoxication and resisting arrest. He was later released on $500 bond.
