Nashville Sounds Announce Name Of New Ballpark

CREATED Apr 22, 2014
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Nashville Sounds and First Tennessee Bank held a joint press conference Tuesday to announce the sale of the naming rights for the new ballpark under construction on the north side of downtown.

The stadium will be called “First Tennessee Park.”

The sponsorship and naming rights were part of a 10-year agreement. Details of the agreement were not available.

Sounds owner Frank Ward said they wanted to find a naming rights partner that shared the team’s commitment to the community.

“We have found a perfect match with First Tennessee Bank, with their commitment to sports and to the city of Nashville,” said Ward.

Middle Tennessee President of First Tennessee Bank, Carol Yochem, said they hoped the agreement was a strong symbol of the bank’s commitment to Nashville.

“This is not something that just popped up. This has been a desire of ours for a very long period of time," said Yochem.

Nashville Mayor Karl Dean was also on hand for the announcement and praised the bank for its involvement.

“What this means to me is this is a validation of the strength of the project and the strength of the appeal of the stadium and the strength of baseball in Nashville," Dean said.

First Tennessee Park will open in April 2015.
