Fire Destroys Vacant House On Stones River Farm

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A vacant home, located on Stones River Farm, was destroyed by a fire Monday afternoon.

The fire was reported just after 5 p.m. on the property located near Ravenwood Country Club and the Stones River Greenway. Multiple units responded, and firefighters said the fire at the home was fully involved when they arrived on scene.

Firefighters said the location made it challenging to get the fire under control.

" It took a few minutes just to get access since we had to go through gates," said Capt. Barry Byers, with the Nashville Fire Department. "Then we had to shuttle water about three miles until we could get a draft set up out of a pond on the property."

The fire did spread to the area surrounding the farm, but it did not reach the greenway. No one was hurt.

The cause of the blaze was not immediately known.

The two-story house was formally the home of Nashville record producer, Moe Lytle. In December of 2012, the City of Nashville purchased the 600 acres around the home from Lytle.
