Pedestrian In Wheelchair Struck, Killed In Madison
MADISON, Tenn. – A pedestrian in a wheelchair was struck and killed while crossing a street in Madison.
The incident was reported just before 10 p.m. Saturday, at the intersection of Gallatin Pike and Due West Avenue.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police Department said 57-year-old Robert Michael Conner was crossing the street in the crosswalk when he was hit by an oncoming van.
Conner died at the scene as a result of the crash. The driver of the van, 71-year-old Arthur Williams, was not hurt.
Witnesses told police the traffic signal was green for northbound traffic at the time of the collision.
No evidence of alcohol was found at the scene. Investigators said the crash was the result of Conner’s failure to obey a traffic control device.
