Repo Man Takes Car With Sleeping 4-Year-Old Inside

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – A four-year-old boy, who went missing in Shelby County, was later discovered sleeping in the backseat of a car that had been repossessed.

WREG reported the boy was asleep in the backseat of his grandmother’s car, when a repo man pulled up in her driveway and took possession of the car.

Ruth Brown said she and her grandson, Kevin, had just arrived back at her Memphis home. She apparently left the boy sleeping inside the car while she took items inside her house.

When she came back out, she said her Toyota Corolla was gone, with the child inside of it.

The family initially feared the vehicle had been carjacked. The boy was later found by the repo man, who told police he did not see the child because he was covered up by a blanket.

"They should've checked the car, and when you saw the child in the car, come bring him to the door, let him come in and let him know you're going to pull the car,” said Jerrica Leverson, the boy’s mother.

Police said the investigation remains ongoing. It was not immediately known whether or not the repo man or Brown could face charges.
