3 Charged In Connection With Drug-Related Fatal Shooting
CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – Three men have been charged in connection with the shooting death of a 31-year-old Clarksville man during a drug deal last week.
On Tuesday, Clarksville Police arrested 19-year-old Brandon Becker and 29-year-old Brandon Smith and charged them with criminal homicide in the death of Mark Walraven, who was found dead in a crashed vehicle along Lafayette Road on April 14.
Walraven died from two gunshot wounds he received during an altercation in the parking lot of Rural King on Ft. Campbell Boulevard.
Police said Walraven was with Becker and Smith, who had made contact with Chad Bennett to purchase prescription pills. Becker and Smith told police that the trio planned to rob Bennett and split the pills.
Police said Bennett pulled out a gun and shot Walraven during a fight.
Walraven got into Bennett’s vehicle, and later crashed.
When police arrived, Bennett initially told officers he had been struck in the head and his car had been stolen.
Bennett was arrested on April 15, and charged with criminal homicide. All three men were booked into the Montgomery County jail without bond.
Police said the shooting took place in a high traffic location and is believed to have been witnessed by several citizens. Anyone who may have witnesses the crime was asked to call Det. Mike Ulrey with the Clarksville Police Department Homicide Unit at (931)648-0656 Ext. 5483.
