Students Evacuated From Elementary School Due To Fire

CREATED Apr 14, 2014

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Students were evacuated from a west Nashville elementary school following a fire that spread smoke throughout the building.

The fire broke out in an upstairs bathroom at Sylvan Park Paideia Design Center on Utah Avenue around 9 a.m. Monday. Smoke spread through the building, so the students were taken outside to the playground.

Buses were called in for standby in case the weather worsened. Parents can pick up their children if they so choose. If it starts to rain, the kids will be moved into the buses.

The fire remained under investigation.
