NASHVILLE, Tenn. – As investigators continue to look at what went wrong during an ultralight crash in Wilson County this weekend, NewsChannel 5 has learned more about the pilot who died.

The Wilson County Sheriff said David "Bucky" Carter was flying over a field outside of Lebanon before the crash.

His wife Angie told NewsChannel 5 that Bucky was the best thing to ever happen to her and her daughter.  Angie and Bucky were newlyweds, married just this past February.

After learning of her husband's death, Angie captioned a Facebook photo of the two attending a party, both with smiles on their faces.

"This is the way I will always remember him," she wrote.  "He was so happy and full of life. We had so much fun together. I know he died happy and died doing what he loved to do."

Carter was a member of the Middle Tennessee Ultralight Group.  Members said safety is always their number one priority while flying. In the 30 years of the group's existence, they said they had never had a fatality until this weekend.

The Sheriff's Office has not yet concluded what exactly caused Carter to crash.
