County Commissioner Accused Of Stealing Opponent's Signs

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - A Rutherford County Commissioner has been accused of stealing his opponent's campaign signs.

69-year-old Joe Frank Jernigan, of Readyville, was charged with misdemeanor theft Wednesday. He has been issued a summons to appear in General Sessions Court.  

Jernigan is accused of stealing four signs worth $12 from opponent Matthew Harvey. Harvey works as a police officer in Murfreeboro.

On Thursday, Jernigan retired from his job with the Rutherford County Highway Department.
