Old Hickory Home Destroyed By 2 Alarm Fire

CREATED Apr 5, 2014

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – A home in Davidson County was completely destroyed by a fire Saturday night.

The fire was reported just after 7 p.m. Saturday, at a home on Lakeshore Drive in Old Hickory. Two firehouses were dispatched to the large blaze.

Firefighters initially ran inside, in an effort to attack the fire from the interior of the home but were eventually driven back by the immense flames.

"It started on the back of the house but it burned fast," said neighbor Roy Kemp. "The flames were at times 30 to 35 feet above the roof."

A woman was inside the home at the time of the fire, but she managed to escape unharmed.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

Officials with the American Red Cross have stepped in to assist her with temporary shelter.
