GOODLETTSVILLE, Tenn. – Police in Goodlettsville said a man accused of stabbing a woman to death and putting her body inside a storage closet has confessed, saying God told him to do it.
Goodlettsville Police arrested 22-year-old Jamon M. French after the body of 39-year-old Yolanda Byrd Tashauna, of Palm Bay, Florida, was found in a storage closet around 10:45 p.m. Thursday at the Greens of Rivergate Apartments at 200 Dry Creek Lane in Goodlettsville.
Tashauna had been beaten and sustained multiple stab wounds. Authorities believe she died from the stabbing.
Authorities said French was the son of a friend Tashauna was visiting at the apartment complex. Police believe she arrived at the apartment around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.
The suspect allegedly took her rental vehicle and other personal items.
The rental vehicle, a white 2014 Kia Forte with 4-doors and Kentucky license plate 890PTY, has not been found. Authorities said French has given them conflicting accounts of where it was located.
Police said while they believe the motive to be robbery, French said God told him to kill the victim.
Police on the scene told NewsChannel 5 residents in one of the apartments came home and discovered the woman in a storage closet on the outside balcony of their apartment unit. They called 911 emergency dispatchers.
No other details were immediately released.
