BRENTWOOD, Tenn. - Brentwood police have charged a 31-year-old man with the stabbing death of his father on Wednesday night.
Daniel Cantrell was charged with first degree criminal homicide in the death of 65-year-old Oliver Cantrell.
Brentwood Police Officers were called to the home at 5212 Heathrow Hills Drive just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Police said Daniel Cantrell's wife came to the home shortly after the incident occurred and found Oliver Cantrell bleeding, with at least one stab wound. She placed the call to 911.
Daniel Cantrell was also at the home and taken into custody for questioning. The man did not live with his father but resided in Franklin.
Cantrell was booked into the Williamson County Jail on $1-million bond. A court date was set for April 17.
A motive for the stabbing was not immediately known.
Neighbors told NewsChannel 5 Oliver Cantrell retired from Lifeway Christian Resources five years ago, but still did some freelance consulting from time to time.
He and his wife had two sons, Daniel and another who is an attorney living in Texas.
