US Wildlife Officials Conduct Status Reviews

CREATED Mar 26, 2014

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is conducting five-year status reviews of 33 Southeastern species.

The review includes 25 endangered and eight threatened species in one or more of the 10 states in the Southeast and Puerto Rico.

The public is invited to provide written information and comments concerning these species on or before May 27.

Officials said the five-year reviews ensure listing classifications under the Endangered Species Act are accurate. In addition to reviewing the classification of these species, the reviews also present an opportunity to track the species' recovery progress.
