Fire At Tennessee Tech Fraternity House Under Investigation
COOKEVILLE, Tenn. – Investigators said the fire that broke out near the campus of Tennessee Tech University early Saturday morning, took place at a fraternity house.
According to fire crews, no one was hurt in the fire at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity; that may be because the fraternity members had recently moved into their new house a few blocks away.
Fire crews said all four of Cookeville's fire stations responded to the fire. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
Several people saw the flames overnight and took video of the fire on their smartphones.
"I just can't get that image out of my mind with those flames," said witness Carla Rene. "They were just so hard and so violent."
A spokesperson for Tennessee Tech said, as is the case with any campus Greek organization that undergoes an investigation, the fraternity has been asked to temporarily stop their activities until investigators determined what happened.
