Man Arrested After Being Caught Attempting To Steal Car
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A man was arrested after being caught in the act attempting to steal a car.
Police charged 39-year-old Joshua D. Maxwell with attempted burglary of a motor vehicle and possession of burglary tools.
An affidavit said someone caught Maxwell using a knife and a wire flag in an attempt to break into a car in the 400 block of Chestnut Street. The witness told asked someone inside the building who the car belonged to, and police were called.
When officers arrived, they found Maxwell still on the scene. A knife was found inside the door seal with a wire flag on the ground nearby.
Maxwell told police that he borrowed his roommate's car and he couldn't remember where he parked it. He also said he didn't have keys to the car.
When his roommate was contacted, she told officers she did not give Maxwell permission to drive her vehicle, which was still parked in her driveway.
Maxwell was booked into the Metro Jail on $6,000 bond.
