Man Charged With Abuse Of Girlfriend's 8-Month-Old Baby
COLUMBIA, Tenn. - An 8-month old baby was critically injured after police said she was abused by her mother's boyfriend.
Columbia Police arrested 25-year-old Michael Bonee on Wednesday and charged him with aggravated child abuse.
Officers responded to a home on Theta Pike on Tuesday night after reports of an unconscious infant. The callers told emergency workers the child had the flu, but police said the child's injuries were not consistent with the illness.
The baby was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with severe head trauma. She was listed in critical condition.
Police said their investigation found that the child was in Bonee and the mother's care within 24 hours before the emergency call was made.
In 2011, authorities said he was arrested for abusing his 7-year-old son. Bonee was found guilty in Maury County General Sessions Court and served an 11-month, 29-day sentence, according to the Columbia Daily Herald.
Bonee was held on $102,500 bond.
