Alert Neighbor Helps Police Nab Burglary Suspect
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Authorities have credited an alert neighbor for helping police track down and arrested a home burglary suspect.
Officials with the Metro Nashville Police Department said they got a call from the neighbor around 1:10 p.m. Thursday. They saw a suspicious looking man entering a nearby home on Michigan Avenue in the west side of Nashville.
The unfamiliar man was wearing a hat, gloves and was carrying a backpack.
Officers arrived on the scene within minutes, just as 33-year-old Raymond Charles Shyloski was coming out of the home. He immediately went back inside and locked the door.
After they told him to come out of the home, Shyloski surrendered to the officers. They found a crowbar in the backpack that they believed was used to enter the house.
Police said Shyloski admitted to going through the homeowner's prescription medication. He was arrested on charges of aggravated burglary and possession of burglary tools.
Bond was set at $12,000.
